Does this picture put you in the mood for a night walk? Well, it should! This is what you can expect in Sitges, Spain in August for the Fiesta Mayor and again in September for Santa Tecla's Fiesta. The celebrations started last weekend and will conclude today
The picture shows what happens on the Night of Fire (Nit de Foc) during which there is a spectacular fire-run (correfoc) whereby devils and fire-beasts (made of paper mache) run at the crowds of spectators showering them with sparks and fire. The fire-run follows an itinerary around the narrow streets of the old town to head at the long beach promenade (Paseo de la Ribera). The dress code to attend this amazing Fiesta is a straw hat and a long sleeves T-shirt to protect from the fire and a scarf to cover the nose to protect from the smoke. We love Sitges!
