This surtido de tapas (tapas mix) summarise the Spanish tapas tradition and the quality of the food that you can easily find along the coast of Catalonia.
Grilled red shrimps and clams and fried calamari are very popular tapas that are particularly good in Sitges and Barcelona being both beach towns with a very good distribution channel for sea food.
Pimiento del padron in the center are small green red peppers that are usually fried with some Maldon salt on top.
Last but not least, the famous croquetas de jamon completing this beautiful tapa dish.
This picture was taken this morning at Cerveceria Catalana in c. Mallorca 236, Barcelona. This place is open every day from 7.30am till 1.30am. It is always packed both with tourists and locals. This turnover guarantees the food freshness. If you want to have a high quality traditional tapas experience I would go to Cerveceria Catalana. You can sit at the bar which is a fun experience, sit outside or eat inside. Give your name to the host and wait to be called. The place is very big inside so it usually takes a shorter waiting period that what you are told. It is worth to spend some time on line….and you can enjoy a cerveza while you are waiting 🙂
